NYLD (National Young Leaders Day)

What did you think of NYLD 2015. Give your opinion and reasons why you hold these opinions (at least 4 sentences):

I Think it was  great experience with all of the speakers talking about how they were a leader, and now i want to be a leader. personally, i didn’t quite like the bus trip to Palmerston North, because I was on a row of seats all by myself and it was a 3 and a half hour long trip. There was a variety of speakers with different personalities, From an artist to an adventurer. 1 of the speakers was an artist and his name was Marcus Winter (AKA the sandman) and he was giving out 1 of his amazing art to the school that took the longest to get here, and we took the 2nd longest, and the people who took the longest to get to Palmerston North, were closer to Palmerston North than us!!

Who was your favourite speaker and why? (Describe in at least 4 sentences):

My favorite speaker was William Pike, because it showed that he never gives up. His story went like this… He hiked up the mount ruapehu with his friend, James. They found a dome shelter and decided to stay the night there, but William couldn’t get to sleep because James snores like a chainsaw. William heard a rumble outside, and the floor shook, so William peeked outside and saw mud and water everywhere. The mud and water rushed into the door and then it went quiet (which is when James woke up) and James backed into a corner, so he was safe. William’s legs got stuck under the mud so James went to get help. When James was away, a rescue team came and saved William, but he didn’t know because he got hypothermia, He thought he was dead. He woke up in a hospital bed with his dad next to him, and his dad said “You have been in an accident.” and the Doctors had to amputate his leg, because his bones were broken and popping out of his legs. He went back up to the mountain with a fake leg and got to the summit. That was his story.

What have you learnt about being a leader? (At least 4 sentences):

All passion, no limit. Make your mountains. You can change the world. Help others, because not everything is about you.

How could you use this learning here at school? (At least 4 sentences):

I can make goals and try my best to reach them. I can help others when they are hurt. If I get stuck on something, I won’t give up. I will think about others.

Action points - something I am going to work on (a goal) from NYLD:

Not giving up. Setting goals that i am not good at.

My favourite quotes were (remember to say who said them):

You can change the world - Chris Jupp
All passion, no limit - William Pike

Maths in Week 7

This week in maths, I have had a difficult learning goal: Dividing fractions. To learn how to do this, i had to go onto Khan Academy (Which is a website) and search for videos on my goal. When searching up dividing fractions it came up with Multiplying fractions also. I was curious because i wondered if i could try multiplying fractions as well, and if it would be easier than dividing fractions like normal dividing and multiplying.

This is supposed to say put the weather machine out of a wind shadow.

These are 2 of my tips on where to put a weather machine:

  • put it out of a wind shadow.
  • put it away fromanything that would interfere with the radio signal e.g. bushes, and trees or buildings.
